🙏 What is Thivasam?
Thivasam (also called Shraddha) is the annual death anniversary ceremony performed for departed souls. It is also known as Pitru Karma or ancestral rites. The ceremony is observed each year on the same Tithi (lunar day) as the original date of passing.
Why is Tithi Important?
Thivasam follows the Hindu lunar calendar, not the Gregorian calendar. The Tithi changes based on the Moon's position relative to the Sun. Therefore, the Gregorian date of Thivasam varies each year, even though the Tithi remains the same.
