📐 Udaya Tithi - Why It Matters
Per Vedic tradition, Shraddha/Tharpanam rituals must be performed based on the Tithi prevailing at sunrise. Temple priests reject midnight-based Tithi calculations.
- Udaya Tithi: The Tithi prevailing at sunrise - this is the basis for rituals
- Tharpanam Timing: Best performed during Kutapa Kala (2-3 hours after sunrise)
- Sacred Water: Performing in sacred waters like Rameswaram Agni Theertham, Kaveri is highly meritorious
⚠️ Important Warning
According to Vedic tradition, Tharpanam performed on the wrong Tithi does not reach the ancestors. Therefore, use accurate Panchangam to verify Udaya Tithi.
